Britain’s best MP competition // December 30th, 2009 // Constituency News, Uncategorized
Gisela Stuart has made the shortlist for Britain’s Best MP
Gisela said:
“Have a look at what a cross party collection of MPs say about why they went into politics and why it’s important to them. You might be surprised at how much consensus there is - especially about how they feel about their constituents.
“One of the interesting questions we were asked is why we went into politics. I have never believed that you have to accept things the way they are. We have a choice and we can make a difference. Politics is a way of making a difference.
“As a constituency MP you get to see the wide range of difficulties that people face. Constituents get in touch daily. That’s why it’s easy for most MPs when faced with a difficult political decision to put their constiteunts first.”
Gisela is currently in 4th place. Listen to what the short-listed MPs have to say and cast your vote here.

Gisela is ok, it’s the rest of her party that are the problem…..

You should have been first. But congratulations on coming second. And I disagree with Sabena’s condemnation of the entire Labour Party! There are a lot of good people there and our MPs are on the whole committed, hard working and wanting the best for their constituents and for the country.

Is this at all significant or important to anyone ?The timing is wonderful as I have never known the standing or respect for MPs’ to be so low after the recent expenses shenanigans .What have we to look forward to in the new year ? A celebrity type reality tv programme entitled ‘ I’m an MP ……….get me out of here ! ‘ or ‘ MPs’ Got Talent ‘ ‘ with the involment of Simon Cowell or Cheryl Cole and a public text vote ?
I’ll decide at the next election whether I think my MP is doing a good job or not and for goodness sake ( while I’m here ) will this governent stop taxing the rest of us out of existence ! Surely that is more relevant and more important to constituents than this dumbed down, self indulgent nonsense.
