Celebrating Birmingham ’s Art on display at No 10 Downing Street // October 23rd, 2009 // Constituency News, Uncategorized
Last month the Prime Minister’s wife Sarah Brown hosted a reception in Downing Street . The Prime Minister’s home currently displays a selection of paintings from Birmingham City Art Galleries, like the one by Dame Laura Knight of Sennen Cove in Cornwall . The photo shows the painting and Gisela Stuart and Anthony Collins, whose great grandfather Alderman John Bowen gifted the painting to the gallery.
Gisela Stuart said:
“It was an evening during which Birmingham’s heritage really shone through. I’m sure John Bowen would have been delighted to know his gift to Birmingham was now hanging in the corridor right in front of the Cabinet Room.”
