Domestic Violence // July 1st, 2010 // Constituency News
Edgbaston MP, Gisela Stuart spoke out strongly against the West Midland’s Police decision to not sack the two officers found guilty of domestic violence.
The Force is campaigning against domestic violence, but allowed the two officers to continue to work on the Team, potentially allowing them to respond to reports of domestic violence.
Gisela said:
“I have deep concerns that officers who consider it acceptable to commit violence against their own partners, remain in a position of power where they potentially could be sent to deal with reports of similar offences from vulnerable members of the public.
In a Force that is actively campaigning against domestic violence, this is a contradiction in terms. I intend to write to the Chief Constable for an explanation.”

This is truly appalling. This is pure hypocrisy asking officers accused of domestic violence to work with victims of domestic violence.
The victims and families who they work with would be truly appalled if they knew this!, very frightened and scared, and quite rightly too. This is completely unacceptable!!
How can we have criminals enforcing the law?
Police have to be within the law to enforce the law, not on the opposite side of it!!
