Edgbaston’s Five Ways Railway Station has been recognised for reaching national standards in station, passenger and staff security.
The busy commuter station has won accreditation under the Department for Transport’s Secure Stations Scheme – a national initiative to encourage good practice in security and safety on the nation’s railways. The scheme accredits individual stations that have worked with British Transport Police and other local partners to implement security measures. Stations remain accredited for two years before their status is reviewed.
Congratulating the station operator, London Midland, Gisela said:
“This is good news for the hundreds of rail passengers who use Five Ways station each day. The staff and management are to be commended for their commitment to ensuring that safety and security are a top priority”.
