National Breastfeeding Week // June 22nd, 2010 // Constituency News
Government Health departments are celebrating National Breastfeeding Week 2010 from 21st - 27th June, with the aim to encourage mothers to start breastfeeding and to continue for as long as possible.
The Birmingham West Branch of the National Childbirth Trust (NCT) is marking the event with coffee and cake meetings for their breastfeeding support group. On Wednesday 25th June, the group will be holding a coffee morning at Pizza Express on Harborne High Street from 10 - 12.30. There will also be a coffee and cake afternoon on Friday 27th June at Northfield Health Centre, where the group meets weekly on a voluntary basis.
The group has a large contingent of mums traveling over from Harborne, Bearwood and Edgbaston. For details of the NCT and their aims, click onto the following link

“It is important to promote the benefits of breastfeeding babies and to encourage the network of supporters who provide information and encouragement for these mothers. I intend to write to the Secretary of State for Health in support of this issue.”
