Gisela and residents celebrating saved no 10 bus route
Edgbaston MP Gisela Stuart joined with bus company Central Connect and local residents to launch the new look number 10 bus service, which links Quinton, Harborne and Edgbaston with Birmingham city centre.
The popular service was due to be axed on 31 May after National Express argued that it was unprofitable. The decision caused uproar in the community, with Gisela joining forces with residents and campaigners to save the service. Thanks to the campaign, Central Connect stepped into the breach and will be running the 10 route from 1 June.
Gisela said:
“The whole community is delighted that the campaign was such a success and that Central Connect has taken over this service. I’m also pleased that they are extending the route to Colmore Row, which will take passengers into the heart of the City Centre.
Now it’s down to us all to make use of the service so it doesn’t come under threat again. As Central Connect told residents at the launch, don’t just thank us for running the service – make sure that you use it!”
