West Midlands Bus Network Review // July 12th, 2010 // Constituency News

0904-no-10-bus-2

The Bus Network Review has been undertaken with Centro and Birmingham City Council.

As a result, National Express has announced the changes to their bus services in West Birmingham.  Timetables and information about the changes are being produced by Centro and will be available at a number of exhibitions being held in the local area during July.

Tuesday 13th July  - St Francis Centre, Woodgate - 10am to 3pm

Thursday 15th July - Quinborne, Ridgacre Road   - 12 noon to 4pm

Tuesday 20th July - QE Hospital Lobby   -   10am to 3pm

Saturday 24th July - St Mary’s Parish Centre, Harborne - 10am to 3pm

The changes come into force from Sunday 25th July 2010

National Express announced the Services 9, 22, 23, 24, 76, 120, 126, 140 and 141 will have minor or no timetable changes.

The main changes will affect the 636 service, x64, 448/448A, 20, 21, 21A, 29, 29A, and 84 service.

Gisela said: “I have been campaigning on behalf of constituent’s who raised genuine concerns about proposed changes to specific bus routes.  The positive result appears to be the 636 service, which has been extended from the QE to the City Centre.  However, those who rely totally on public transport are best able to judge whether the new services address their needs.

I encourage bus users to continue to contact me if they have concerns about the new bus routes.”

One Comment to “West Midlands Bus Network Review”

  1. I don’t think the buses are reliable enough and I think thier punctuality is very poor, this has a knock on effect for everyone, people going to work and arriving stressed out out fustrated which has a knock on effect for everyone they come into contact with, people going to job interviews which in these economic times no one can afford to go into stressed out because that greatly reduces their chance of being successfull at interview and the general anxiety to people who do not or cannot drive being put into a position where their lives are limited, because of the extremely poor punctuality of public transport and limited services.

Somthing has to change here, not the profits being made by the operators, but an improved quality of service, much better punctuality, more routes, safer vehicles and a safer environment for all passengers and most of all better value for money fares, because lot’s of people are out of work at the moment and can’t allways afford to go to job interviews which I think is dispicable, and I think there should be a reuduced rate of travel pass for people on lower incomes, but this should be proven, so people who are not entitled to these do not claim them.
